2nd Annual Breast Cancer Awareness Ride raises money for cancer research

On Sunday, the 2nd Annual Breast Cancer Awareness Ride was held at Mendon Ponds Park.

The event was organized by Towpath Bike. 500 people came out despite some early morning showers.

Those who participated could choose to ride 10, 25 or 45 miles. There was also a 5K nature walk.

The event raised $50,000 which goes directly to the Breast Cancer Research Foundation.

Event organizers said the goal is also to unite the community in an effort to raise awareness of the importance of breast health.
